Appointments

Surgeries and clinics are spaced throughout the day for patients’ convenience including appointments being available morning, afternoon, and evening. We offer both face to face appointments and telephone appointments to suit patients needs.

Consultations are by appointment only and patients have the right to express a preference as to which doctor they book their appointment with. Patients with urgent problems will normally be seen the same day or certainly within 24 hours but in this case they may not be able to see the doctor of their choice. Follow up appointments at the GPs request can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

Patients requesting an urgent appointment for the same day will be given a telephone consultation with our Triage Nurse who will assess your symptoms and decide the best care for you whether that be advice, a prescription or a GP appointment.

We are a GP training practice and as such you may be offered an appointment with a GP Registrar or Foundation Doctor. Both types of doctors are fully qualified and capable to work independently.

If you cannot keep your appointment please tell us as soon as possible so we can offer it to another patient.

Online bookable appointments are available - ask at reception and you will be given login details to access the online appointments. 

Home Visits

Our policy, and that of NHS 111, is not to carry out home visits other than in exceptional circumstances, e.g. terminal illness, patients that are housebound.

If you feel you are in need of a home visit please contact the surgery and arrange a telephone consultation first, the doctor or nurse will assess you over the phone and decide if a home visit is required.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery. It is rare for a child to need a home visit.  A child with a high temperature should be given a dose of paracetamol and brought to the surgery.

Extended Hours

We are pleased to be able to offer evening and weekend appointments by working in collaboration with other GP practices in the area. This does mean that if you want to be seen on a weekday evening or weekend, your appointment may be held at a different GP practice to your registered practice and also with a different GP or nurse than you usually see. 

The other practices we are working with, and where you may be offered an appointment at, are:

• Issa Medical Centre, Deepdale.
• Lytham Road Surgery, Fulwood.

Your medical record will be available to the GP or nurse that sees  you to ensure that they have the information they need to give you the best possible care. Consultation notes of your appointment will be sent back to us to ensure that your medical record is updated accordingly.

In order to book an evening or weekend appointment, you must call this GP practice as these appointments are not currently available to book online.

However if you need to book an evening or weekend appointment and your GP surgery is shut, please call NHS 111 and they will be able to advise you further.

Health Checks

Patients aged 16 to 75 years who have not attended the surgery within the last three years can request an appointment for a health check.

Patients over 75 years who have not consulted a GP in the last 12 months can also request a health check, which may be done at home if they are unable to attend the surgery.
